The Honorato Pre-Construction Process
What pre-construction is
Pre-construction is the work that happens between the decision to build and the first day of construction. On a complex custom project, this phase typically runs three to six months. It is where the outcome of a $2M+ project is largely decided — before a single wall goes up.
"Most construction surprises are visible before a project begins — if you know where to look. Pre-construction is how we look."
At Honorato, we run a formal, documented, ten-component pre-construction process. Not a rough estimate and a handshake — a structured planning engagement with a dedicated project manager, a coordinated design team we've selected, and a complete set of documents produced at each stage. Every deliverable belongs to you.
The project manager who runs pre-construction is the same one who runs construction. By the time the first crew arrives, they know every detail of your project. No handoffs. No re-learning. No gaps.
The system
Every engagement moves through all ten components in sequence. Each one produces a document. Together, they form the most complete picture of a project that exists before construction begins. Tap any component to learn more.
What you own
This is not a lock-in. The work done during pre-construction is yours. At the end of the process, you hold an accurate budget built from real trade bids, a site report, a risk register, a selection schedule, a sequencing plan, and a full project handoff package. You own all of it.
Our standard
"A client should never reach the point where they just want it to be over. That moment is a planning failure. Pre-construction is how we prevent it."
The quality of a finished home is directly proportional to the quality of the planning that preceded it. A project that begins without an accurate budget, a vetted design team, a site audit, and a sequenced schedule will encounter surprises. Some are minor. Some are not.
Pre-construction exists to find those problems before they become yours. That is what it means to build it right.
Build it right, or do not build it.
If you are considering a project, the first step is a twenty-minute conversation.
